Elias Hudson was born on 25 July 1834 at Granville, Annapolis Co, Nova Scotia.2
He was the son of Charles Hudson and Hepzibeth Heaton.
Elias Hudson married Mary Ann Graham, daughter of George Graham and Sophia Elizabeth Conrad, on 30 July 1857 at Parkers Cove, Annapolis Co, Nova Scotia; by Rev James Spencer.3
Elias Hudson died in 1910 at Parkers Cove, Annapolis Co, Nova Scotia.2
He and Mary Ann Graham resided between 1871 and 1881 at New Caledonia District, Annapolis Co, Nova Scotia. Wendy Hudson reports that in the 1871 census the family was enumerated as: Elias, age 36, seaman, C Baptist; wife Margaret, age 44; Alonzo, age 20; Ansley, age 12; Annie, age 8; Maria, age 6, Elias, age 4. They owned 75 acres of which 20 were improved and 20 were pasture. They grew potatoes. They owned 1 wagon, 1 plough, 2 oxen, 1 cow, and 50 fathoms (300 feet) of net. They had 64 shares of a sailing vessel, 1 vessel employed 6 men, and one boat employed 2 men. They caught cod, haddock, herring, and halibut and produced 50 gallons of fish oil. In the 1881 census Elias was enumerated as a Baptist and a farmer/fisherman. the children were Ansley 22, Annie 20, Ada 18, and Elias 13.4 Elias Hudson and Mary Ann Graham resided between 1891 and 1901 at Parkers Cove District, Annapolis Co, Nova Scotia. In the 1891 census Elias was enumerated as age 57, a ships captain, and a Baptist. Mary Ann was age 64. The children were Annie 30 and Elias (Jr) 24 and a seaman. In the 1901 census Elias was enumerated as age 66, a merchant, and a Baptist. Mary Ann was age 73. Annie was 39, grandson Cecil was 5 and granddaughter Nellie Robinson was 6.5,6 |
