Dr Laurence Bernard Wilfred Braine1 (M)

     Dr Laurence Bernard Wilfred Braine was born on 16 November 1879 at Halifax, Halifax Co, Nova Scotia.2 He was the son of Robert Thomas Braine and Eliza Ann Buckley.3 Dr Laurence Bernard Wilfred Braine married Jessie Elizabeth Graham, daughter of William Wallace Graham and Margaret S Rice, on 11 June 1902 at Bear River, Digby Co, Nova Scotia.2 Dr Laurence Bernard Wilfred Braine died on 9 February 1956 at Glen Margaret, Halifax Co, Nova Scotia.2 He was buried at United Church Cemetery, Glen Margaret, Halifax Co, Nova Scotia.4
     Circa 1905 Dr Laurence Bernard Wilfred Braine and Jessie Elizabeth Graham resided for a time in Wyoming, one of the children was born there.5 Dr Laurence Bernard Wilfred Braine was a medical doctor, family practice between 1905 and 1955.5 He was in the military service as an Army surgeon with the Royal Canadian Army in World War 1 between 1914 and 1918.5 He and Jessie Elizabeth Graham lived between 1920 and 1948 at Annapolis Royal, Annapolis Co, Nova Scotia.5 As a country doctor, he used to say that he was owed more money than he ever collected from his patients. During the great depression of the 1930s he was sometimes paid with barrels of Annapolis Valley apples, some of which found their way to his descendants in Newfoundland.3
