Flora Belle Hudson was born on 22 September 1893 at Parkers Cove, Annapolis Co, Nova Scotia. In the 1901 census, Flora was listed as 7 years old and she was living with her parents in Parkers Cove.2
She was the daughter of Ainslie Hudson and Annie Campbell VanBlarcom.1
Flora Belle Hudson married George Harold Robinson, son of Stephen Robinson and Margaret Magarvey, on 29 June 1911 at Gloucester, MA. At the time of their marriage, George was listed as 26, a seaman, and was living at 45 Stewart Avenue in Lynn. Flora was listed as 18 and was living at 45 Stewart Avenue in Lynn.3
Flora Belle Hudson married Raymond Thompson circa 1930 at Essex County, MA.1
Flora Belle Hudson died on 16 November 1976 at Lynn, MA. Flora was an exceptional tailor. She worked for an exclusive store - Newmark, in Salem, Massachusetts. Flora died at age 83 of a bleeding ulcer. At the time of her death, she was living at 17 Menlo Avenue, Lynn. She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church. Flora is buried in Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn, Massachusetts.4
In the 1910 U.S. Census, there was a Flora Hudson who was a servant in the Andrew Smith household in Lynn, Massachusetts. She was listed as age 16 (born circa 1894). It stated she arrived in the U.S. in 1910 from Canada. This may not be the correct Flora Hudson.5 She and George Harold Robinson resided after 1911 at Lynn, MA. At the time of George's birth (1913), the family was living at 172 Washington Street, Lynn, Massachusetts. George was listed as a sailor. At the time of Helen's birth (1916), the family was living in Marblehead, Massachusetts and George was listed as a yacht captain. In the 1920 census, Flora and George were living at 195 Eutaw Avenue, Lynn, Essex county, Massachusetts. Their children George G. (age 6) and Helen F. (age 3 4/12) were with them in addition to Flora's sister Louise P. Hudson (age 18). The census listed George as immigrating to the U.S. in 1909 and Flora immigrating in 1911. They were both listed as naturalized in 1917 and George was listed as a sea captain. George was a sea captain for United Fruit.1 |
