     It is very likely that this is the Daniel Felch family enumerated in the 1768 census with three in his household, two male and one female, and in the 1770 census, five in his household all "American" born, at Annapolis, Nova Scotia, and Daniel Felch on the 1765 request for confirmation for township status and 1792 tax rolls for Annapolis. Daniel and Ann would be siblings of David Bent and Mary Felch who are also in this data set and are documented at Annapolis, Nova Scotia after 1763. Regrettably, the Felch family records for the late 18th century at Annapolis are very incomplete.

Arthur Reinforth Bent was baptized on 23 May 1869 at Bridgetown, Annapolis Co, NS; name recorded as Arthur Rainford Bent.² He married Annie Elizabeth Porter, daughter of John Porter and Mary Ovenston, on 3 April 1897 at Victoria, BC; they were married in the old Methodist Church, corner of Pandora Avenue and Broad Street, then used as a Salvation Army barracks. Mr. Bent was the band sergeant and Annie Porter a cornet player. Adjutant Clark read the Salvation Army Marriage Service. Married at 8:00 on a Saturday night.³ Arthur Reinforth Bent died on 12 April 1939 at Victoria, BC; of coronary thrombosis and arteriosclerosis at his home at 2533 Prior Street on Wednesday morning.⁴ He was buried at Ross Bay Cemetery.
     He appeared on the census of 1881 at Carleton Corner District, Annapolis Co, NS; with his parents.⁵ He was at the time of daughter May Victoria's birth in 1915.⁶ He and Annie Elizabeth Porter resided in May 1915 at 2574 Graham Street, Victoria, BC.⁶
     He was saved for Jesus Christ at Bridgetown, N.S. He first went to Tacoma, Washington, then to Victoria, British Columbia in 1891. He played in the Salvation Army band in 1893 or earlier. He was a Band Sergeant for a long period and later Bandmaster. He was a blacksmith for 30 years, his last working day was April 11, 1939. He attended the first Army meeting in 1887. At his funeral Brigadier Junker did service and Stan Martin assisted. He was a member of Court Caribou, Independent Order of Foresters.

     Asa Bent was born in 1776. He was the son of David Bent and Mary Felch. Asa senior's will and estate probate provide compelling evidence that he is indeed a son of Asa and Ann Bent.^2,3 He was the son of Asa Bent and Ann Busby. Long legal battle as two brothers felt he was not of sound mind. Notwithstanding there is a lot of data in the estate papers: widow Mary Jane Bent was aged about 70; adopted daughter Ida May Walker, aged 21, spinster was adopted from the Poor House in 1875 when she was aged nine years; sister Albina Bartlett aged 69, widow lived in Chelsea, Mass; brother Ralph Bent of Tupperville aged about 62; John Z. Two other half brothers Ambrose Bent and Elias Bent deceased, no issue. Children of half sister Mary Warner "died a few years ago": William Warner of Nictaux, mason, aged about 50; Phebe Whitman wife of Edward Whitman of Tupperville, aged about 40; Halhe Hazard married living somewhere in Rhode Island; Elizabeth Morgan wife of Charles Morgan living somewhere in US. However, this may be a false identification.^4,2 David Bent died on 16 August 1831 at Belleisle, Annapolis Co, NS; at age 67.³ He was buried at Bent Cemetery, Granville, Annapolis Co, NS.³
     He left a will on 10 February 1829 at Granville, Annapolis Co, NS,, which was recorded 6 September 1831. The will mentions wife Ruth and "9 children". The eight listed children were: sons Rufus, David, and Asaph; daughters Therese Bent, Abigail Bent, Rebecca Starratt, Ruth Starratt, and Miriam Bent. Rebecca Starratt was deceased by 15 October 1833.⁵

It seems likely that Elias's first wife died and that he married a second time.²

     Ernest John Bent was born on 17 April 1898 at Victoria, BC.¹ He was the son of Arthur Reinforth Bent and Annie Elizabeth Porter. Ernest John Bent married Ruth Law, daughter of Charley Law and Sarah Ann King, on 12 June 1920 at Victoria, BC. They were married at the home of Ruth at 935 North Park Street. Arthur and Annie Bent lived at 2533 Prior Street at that time. There was another newspaper article that said they were married at the old Victoria Citadel (Salvation Army Church) at Broad Street and Pandora which I believe what happened rather than North Park Street The marriage took place at 3:00 by Commandant Jaynes of the Salvation Army. Ruth wore a traveling suit of navy blue and hat to match. She was given away by her father and was attended by her sister Catherine Law. The groom was supported by Joseph Law. They left on the 4:30 boat for Seattle and Portland. They returned to live at 3015 Cedar Hill Road. The Salvation Army band gave them a table and chair.² Ernest John Bent died on 11 January 1983 at Victoria, BC; of a CVA (stroke).³ He was buried at Plot Colwood F283 E 1/2, Hatley Memorial Gardens, Victoria, BC.
     He was educated on 13 February 1906 at Hillside School. He resided between 1909 and 1910 at 2534 - 7th Street (became Graham Street), Victoria, BC. He resided between 1912 and 1915 at 2534 Graham Street, Victoria, BC.
     He was in the automotive business all his life. He used to ride motorcycles but gave it up because Ruth didn't like him to ride. He worked at Begg Motors for years and was let go when things slowed up. He had a car from a very young age, when cars were still little heard of. He had two gas stations, one was Esso on Cadboro Bay Road (by Oak Bay High) and the other was Boundary B.A. He worked with a man called Mr. Burley ( he was his partner). After he retired he gave unwillingly of his time to drive his wife and other people to various appointments. He was the bandmaster of the Esquimalt Band, Salvation Army, for 50 years. The Esquimalt band got a lot of its instruments from the disbanding Victoria West Fireman's Band. When June was a child and cried and cried he would walk the floor with her. He played marbles with Tracey as a child and got down on the floor with her. He loved army music and music of any kind. He enjoyed gardening. He was a very gentle and kind man.

     Ernest Vernon Bent was born on 19 May 1874 at Bridgetown, Annapolis Co, NS. He was the son of John Zenus Bent and Famichie Gesner. Ernest Vernon Bent died on 8 December 1945 at Chelsea, MA.
     He resided in 1939 at Boston, MA, when his brother when Arthur died.
